Hello and welcome to my web pages. I am Roy Ehmke, I live in Claremont Virginia, and have been retired from Dupont Teijin Films in Hopewell Virginia going on three years at this writing.

 I was born in Munich, Germany in 1949, am raised as a "military brat", and am an only child. I was thirteen when I came to this country, and am now a proud American.

 

I have always been passionate about flying for as long as I can remember. For most of my life I had been sailing, which is my other passion. But I have the need now to fly. I've flown small planes with others over the years, but I now feel compelled to fly something I have created with my own hands.

 

So into my life comes the Affordaplane, or more simply, the A-Plane. It is an Ultralight design but it is not a kit. Every piece has to be hand crafted by the builder. The reasons I chose this design are many, but at the top of the list is cost. One other attraction is simplicity, and the fact that this thing borders on looking like a regular plane and not an ultralight. I hope you will follow my adventure, I will update regularly.
